I'm back today to share one of my favorite photo tips with you to get real ooohs and ahhhhs from your audience: using scale and contrast.
When my wife, daughter, and I took a trip to Haystack Rock recently, I wanted to create images that would surprise and delight. I had seen tons of photos of the iconic landmark, but I wanted to do something different from what I'd seen. Instead of getting close to the rock, which would crop off the sides and keep from showing the full rock, I wanted to back up and get it in all its glory. I also wanted to make sure to get our full bodies to show the scale and contrast of the Haystack. The result is what you see below.
By stepping back a little, we can often see the bigger picture. And that picture is often worth capturing. And sharing.
